We measured the serum concentrations of total thyroxine (TT4), total triiodothyronine (TT3), reverse T3 (rT3), free T4 (FT4) and T3 (FT3) in 28 normal cats, 25 cats with untreated hyperthyroidism, and 6 hyperthyroid cats treated with methimazole (MMI). Two different techniques (equilibrium dialysis and direct RIA) were used to measure FT4 concentrations, whereas the remaining iodothyronines were measured by RIA.
