The syndrome of feline hyperthyroidism, first recognized just 10 years ago, has become a very common
disease in the aging cat population. Small-animal veterinarians can expect to regularly encounter cats
suffering from this disorder. Although most of us have no trouble recognizing hyperthyroidism in cats
exhibiting the typical clinical signs and laboratory features of this syndrome, there are individual cats that
present more of a challenge.
