CONCLUSION

Epidemiological studies investigating environmental and nutritional exposures suggest HT to be a complex multifactorial disease. Diet and feeding canned food have been associated with HT in retrospective studies which have their limitations in design. No hypothesized risk factors to explain etiology of diet in HT have been confirmed to induce HT yet. Lifelong prospective longitudinal studies based on the strongest epidemiological evidence to date are needed to investigate the role of food-associated risk factors in the development of HT.
